- "For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden." -- Galatians 6:3-5 (King James Version)
With striking imagery, The Message Bible tells us to do our “creative best” with our own lives. Think about that. How much creative energy do you put into your life and your assignment? Are you storyboarding and designing the days of your life such that you are progressing in your assignment?
Most people never come to the place of even knowing their assignment, and even less are courageous enough to embrace it with total passion: the kind of passion that fuels actual realization. Galatians 6:4 tells us that we should be concerned not with another’s assignment but with our own and then, we shall have rejoicing.
Grace activates gifts but fruitfulness produces joy. A farmer isn’t happy until he sees the seed produce something—in particular, a harvested crop. Similarly, gifted people who aren’t producing are frustrated people who eventually lose focus. People who are operating in their assignment don’t have time to compare themselves with others; they are too busy trying to catch up with what God is requiring for their assignment.
Are you thinking, reflecting, and seeking for creative ways to better your family, your career, or your ministry? Is your creative juicer working? If so, it’s a sign that you are in pursuit of your assignment. If not, it may well be a sign that you have grown stagnant, frustrated, or out of touch with your reason for living.
Today, be encouraged to re-focus and put your creative best into your assignment.
