Weakness Over Easy

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."  -- 2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

An egg cooked "over easy" means that it gets fried on both sides, but the yolk stays runny. To make one, you cook the raw egg just until the whites are set on the bottom, then you quickly flip it over to cook the other side. "Over" refers to flipping the egg, and "easy" refers to the doneness of the yolk (from http://www.thekitchn.com/whats-the-difference-eggs-over-easy-vs-sunny-side-up-96069).

Similarly, there are times in life when we feel fried on both sides. Trials, tribulations, challenges, obstacles, betrayal, and abuse are not absent from the life of the believer. At times it feels as if attacks are coming from all sides, angles, and trajectories of our lives at one time. In those times, it is easy to grow hard in our hearts, wanting deliverance but seemingly being left alone to defend ourselves and fight off myriad attacks.

In those times, we have to remember why God sent a thorn in the flesh--according to scripture--it was for his [Paul's] own good. Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe the trial or tribulation you are facing is for your own good? This change of perspective is the "over"; the flipping of the metaphorical egg in turmoil. Flip that weakness: flip that trial by choosing to declare that it will work for your own good. And, keep your heart "easy," don't let your heart get hardened but let it stay runny and tender toward the Lord. Call upon Him today and flip your weakness for His strength.

"I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place." --Psalm 118:5
